Legal Abortion in case of rape: Health and Legal Approaches
This document is intended to serve as an argumentative and practical guide for health and justice sector professionals, as well as public administration agents in general, to have a better understanding of their responsibilities and to carry out actions to comply with the norms regarding access to lawful termination of pregnancy (LTP)4 of women who have been raped, and thereby guaranteeing this right in Latin American countries and the Caribbean (LAC).
Its elaboration was an strategic decision made by La Mesa por la Salud y la Vida de las Mujeres (La Mesa)5 from Colombia and la Alianza Nacional por el Derecho a Decidir (ANDAR)6 from México, together with el Consorcio Latinoamericano contra el Aborto Inseguro (CLACAI)7 and el Comité de Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos de la Federación Latinoamericana de Sociedades.
